the importance of the growing gap between "knowers" and "non-knowers" is essential to know the difference. for me when i wish to have my computer fixed or repaired, when i cant do it myself, i want someone who knows what they are doing to fix it so it wont become even more disastrous. i always ask my friend drake or cousin frank to look at my computer because i know they are computer literate. they have careers dedicated to the technology available on computers and how to rectify a problem should one arise.
if you were to apply for a job and put on your resume or CV that you are fluent in the use of computers or any of its programs, than you better be sure you are. if in the future your boss gives you a job to do using one of these programs and you dont know how to perform it, well...you better start job hunting again.
that statement also applies to any job or future employment. if you say you are literate in a field, you better be sure you understand the logistics, vocabulary, and use of its components.
