Something helpful that I learned in this chapter was to keep the reader in mind as we revise. Ballenger talked about the difference between a writer-based prose and a reader-based prose. He said that when you begin writing your paper, you are writing as if the audience is yourself and when you revise your paper, you should change it so that you are writing as if the reader is your audience. I think that this will help me by making my paper more interesting for the reader to read.
I'M SO EXCITED TO BE DONE WITH THIS BOOK. YAYYYYYYY WOOOOOO
I also found that Ballinger's explanation of audience was very helpful. Writer-based prose and reader-based prose are two different styles to write. In this paper I need to make sure that I specifically write to my audience, which changes a lot of information that my field would see as common knowledge. I think this book helped me write a better paper, and like you i am very, very excited to be done with it!!
ReplyDeleteSince I have had to revise almost every one of my papers this year I couldnt agree more, if you write the paper as if the reader is the audience your paper will be able to a lot more effective and interesting to read.
