"What was your general reaction to the piece?"
I found the piece interesting and enjoyed the topic. I found it intruiging how she viewed the contrasts between Indian and Western women. Though what was interesting to me was that though she seemed against stereotyping of women, especially specifying that Indian women are strong and capable, she stereotypes Western women as weak and complacent. So it is truly more about race than gender. She also brought up how she feels Western influence has dragged down Indian society rather than improve it as one might think, which I enjoyed as it brought up a less popular point of view on that matter.
I agree with you. I thought it was interesting that she brought up each idea about how indian women are "better" than the typical western woman. Even though she may not have came out and said it she still believed it.
ReplyDeleteThats a good point bringing up how she feels western society is causeing a decline in her culture rather than improving it. its a very strange thought for us because we always see our self as improving things.
