Quickwrite 11/22

One thing I took from the reading is that my points need to be logical. If I bring in emotion, my paper will come off as weak. I need to support my claims with facts, because that will convince people easier. When I write my paper, I need to remember that people will get turned off when I say they should believe in something "just becasue." I think that if I use phrases like "I feel" or "I believe," my paper won't seem as strong either. I need to be assertive and logical. There are many different parts that make up an argument, and I need to be sure to hit all of them.

  1. I agree that you have to back up your claims with facts or evidence that can convince people, however I do agree that our papers should be void of all emotion. If we are arguing about a topic that we get to choose it should be something that we have a strong belief about, agree with or are interested in. Due to this adding emotion to the paper would show others that this topic is important to at least one person and they should pay attention. Also if you are using personal stories to back up your argument than emotion is going to be involved no matter what.

  2. What you just described here is exactly what I did wrong with my paper. You do come off weak when you say feel or believe it should be all logical and I really messed that up and will take a bad grade for it.
