Quickwrite 11/10

1. Why exactly did the disco-hatred come about? What spawned it if disco-enthusiasts didn't think twice about rock music?
2. How did this hatred fade away to some degree if it was once so serious people were burning 20,000+ albums?
3. They mention that disco was "the anthem of homosexuals and urban blacks" and those who opposed it were "mainly white". Was the issue ultimately one of race and/or sexuality and less about the music?

  1. 3. The main issue ended up being about race/sexuality, but the author did not just come out and say that. He kind of danced around the topic but it seemed like that was the main reason rock and disco did not get along.

  2. I think that in general, people were less understanding of change while now people are more understanding of others'personalities. There was an extreme taboo on race and sexuality in the past and now it is only frowned upon by a few people.

  3. Yeah I also believe that in the past people were less tolerant of other people's life choices while now few people stand in the way of anyone expressing themselves.
