Quickwrite 10/20

In Chapter 4 I learned a very valuable tip that I will carry over into my paper. Frequently on previous papers I end with "In conclusion," or "Thus" and by doing this reading I now know how that is one thing you greatly want to avoid in an ending of a research paper. It is also important to avoid endings that fade into other topics.

  1. I never use endings like "In conclusion," but sometimes it's really hard to find the right sentence to start the conclusion. I find conclusions in general really difficult.

  2. I agree. I often get stuck ending a paper with "in conclusion" which until reading I didn't realize wasn't something you want to do.

  3. I realized that starting a conclusion with "In conclusion," is found in a lot of papers and gets boring after awhile. This chapter helped me too in finding new ways to approach a concluding paragraph and end my paper.

  4. I am also notorious with ending papers with the cliche "In conclusion" and "Finally". I now realize how important it is to stay away from these generic transitions.

  5. I agree with all of you and especially the part where EJ said that its important to make sure your ending sentence does not lead into another topic. I always have trouble having a clear focus though-out m papers. This chapter helped me a little bit more as well!
